 LAN based Interactive language lab

Acenet 5.1 (LV) is a learner version of the full version Acenet 5.1(SE).

Acenet 5.1(SE) is a LAN based hardware-software language lab that uses separate audio and video network for signal routing whereas Acenet 5.1(LV) uses the LAN for both commands and signals. It is a near full version of the same learning environment as Acenet 5.1(SE). It is intended for the faculty to acquaint themselves with various teaching technologies, create the first lessons and have the first ‘hands on experience’ before investing in a more sophisticated full-fledged language lab version.


Acenet 5.1(LV) can be used for up to 30 students. It is to be installed on a LAN with Windows XP. Acenet 5.1(LV) software is delivered on one CD and works only in presence of a dongal that must be connected to a USB port on the teacher’s computer.

The initial license is for 12 months. After the expiry of the initial period of this license the user has two choices.

1.   Upgrade to full Acenet 5.1(SE) version by adding the required components and cabling. The cost of upgrading depends on the number of students. The system is supplied with number of students in multiples of 5 with a maximum of 30.
2.   Continue to use Acenet 5.1(LV) permanently by purchasing a perpetual use license.

Installation: Acenet 5.1(LV) is to be installed in 2 parts.

1. The teacher part and
2. The student part on all computers for students.
3. Dotnet framework is required to be installed on all computers.

All computers must have microphone and headphone connections. A good quality sound card similar to Sound Blaster (AC 97) is required for optimum performance. A good quality headset is required for every student and the teacher.

Adequate instructions are provided with the product for installation. The installation needs to be done by a network technician familiar with multimedia applications on Windows XP-2.
