A very large number of institutions use ACEN language labs all over India and
SriLanka for over 25 years. Establishing a
language lab in itself is not the solution as one needs to create suitable
exercises in the desired language- English being most common requirement.
The faculty at the institutions usually do not find enough time or resources to
create the audio visual teaching material. Secondly,
as the technology keeps changing, continuous up-gradation is required.
With this in mind we, at ACEN were set out to create a suitable teaching material
in communication skills in English. Our focus was on
linguistic communication skills. The level of the students was assumed to be 10+
up to BSC/BE etc. – in fact anyone who has undergone formal
basic training in English.
We are now presenting a very comprehensive teaching material ‘ACEN Interactive
Course in Phonetics and Spoken English- Phonetics, Grammar and
Vocabulary’ (Edition2010)- about a 100 hours of course material.
This is an audio-video-interactive material and is made in Indian variant of
English which is very similar to the British RP.
